
Robin Meguire
Biography:
Originally from Great Falls, Ms. Meguire is a 2004 honors graduate of the University of Montana School of Law. She is admitted to practice in all Montana state and federal courts. While attending law school in Missoula, Ms. Meguire was employed as a law clerk at the Williams Law Firm. She also served as a legal intern at the National Wildlife Federation. Upon graduation, she accepted a one-year judicial clerkship with the Montana Supreme Court in Helena. During her tenure as a roving law clerk, Ms. Meguire had the honor of drafting judicial opinions and orders for Justice Regnier, Justice Cotter, Justice Warner, and Justice Morris.
In July of 2005, Ms. Meguire began working as an associate attorney at the Helena law firm Meloy Trieweiler, where she had the opportunity to learn from two of the most highly regarded and skilled trial lawyers in the state. Under the mentoring of Mike Meloy, she represented many individuals in civil rights, personal injury, defective product, medical negligence, and employment related matters. She also assisted various non-profit environmental groups, including Montana Trout Unlimited and the Montana Environmental Information Center (MEIC), in their mission to maintain and improve Montana's natural environment. During her two years at the firm, Ms. Meguire obtained several favorable judgments on behalf of her clients. She was also successful in arguing motions at both the administrative and district court levels and authoring over fifteen appellate briefs, including the Respondent's brief in the noteworthy case Montanans for Justice v. State ex rel. McGrath (2006), where the Montana Supreme Court affirmed Judge Sandefur's invalidation of three controversial ballot initiatives based on fraudulent signature gathering practices. In addition, Ms. Meguire aided dozens of Montana newspapers and media organizations by promoting open government and securing access to public meetings and documents. In that regard, she fielded telephone calls to Montana's Freedom of Information Hotline from reporters and citizens with questions about Montana's open record and meeting laws. She also compiled and reported on recent Montana legal developments for the Libel Defense Resource Center and the Reporters' Committee for Freedom of the Press.
In July of 2007, Ms. Meguire returned home to Great Falls and launched meguirelaw.com, a virtual law firm that provides a full range of statewide legal services to Montana attorneys. Ms. Meguire also maintains her own statewide practice, with an emphasis on appellate advocacy and public interest law.
